Professional Excellence

When your mission is to be the number one rehabilitation facility in the community, you have your work cut out for you!

Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre set the wheels in motion in 2004 when they set out to become the first private clinic in Ontario to be accredited by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). The Accreditation Program is valued and recognized as a standard of excellence in physiotherapy service delivery by clients, customers and physicians.

We followed that up in 2008 when they sought a second voluntary accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Successful completion of both the written modules and the site visit, resulted in a 3-year accreditation and meant that Sports Medicine had achieved the highest level of recognition for a rehabilitation facility.

Accreditation by both the CPA and CARF shows that a facility has demonstrated an interest in and commitment to establishing and maintaining high standards of physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice. When an organization is accredited, the public is assured that you are committed to continually improving the quality of your services and your organization’s focus is on service outcomes, customer feedback and satisfaction. It demonstrates that you offer a higher degree of internal quality.

Having this designation is an important asset in the rapidly changing health care field. Health and auto insurance companies have stated that in the future they will only refer their clients to accredited facilities. Worker Safety Insurance Board has also indicated that they will be seeking accredited clinics for injured workers.
