Lymphedema is a chronic, manageable, medical condition caused by accumulation of protein-rich lymphatic fluid in the interstitial resulting in persistent and progressive swelling, chronic inflammation, and reactive fibrosis in one or more areas of the body, most often in the limbs.

Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is one of the most effective treatments for lymphedema and other related conditions. CDT is a non-invasive, multicomponent approach which consists of a combination of manual lymph drainage (MLD), compression therapy, decongestive exercises and skin care.

There are two phases of CDT therapy:

Phase 1 (treatment phase) of CDT consists of manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging, remedial exercise, skin care and instructions for self care.

Phase 2 (maintenance phase) of CDT consists of compression garments during the day, bandaging at night, skin and nail care and remedial exercise.

To schedule a CDT assessment, please call 705.734.3340 (480 Huronia Rd.) or 705.722.9981 (Victoria Village, 72 Ross St.).
