Advanced Neurofunctional Acupuncture for Sports Injuries and other Complex Musculoskeletal Disorders is now available at Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre!

What is Neurofunctional Acupuncture?

  • It is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique in which fine acupuncture needles are inserted into anatomical sites. The needles are then stimulated with electricity for the therapeutic purpose of altering abnormal activity of the nervous system in order to relieve pain.
  • The application of acupuncture needles into specific muscles stimulates proper firing patterns of both the muscle and the nerve.
  • Unlike traditional acupuncture which involves tongue and pulses as part of the diagnosis, a Neurofunctional Acupuncture Practitioner relies on a thorough history taking and a functional examination in order to determine a proper diagnosis.

Physiotherapist, Molon Bromfield, is certified in the New Advanced Functional Assessment of Sports Injuries and other Complex Musculoskeletal Dysfunction and the Advanced Neurofunctional Soft Tissue Micro-Conditioning for the Treatment of Sports Injuries.

This Advanced Neurofunctional Certification is through the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program and is exclusive to qualified health care professionals.
